Young Adult BookFest

The festival began in 2013 as Operation Education. It was relaunched as the Young Adult Bookfest Listowel in 2017.

Annually it has drawn crowds of up to 1000 young people to its events in Listowel, wowing audiences with guests such as Paul Durcan Steven James Smith, Sarah Crossan, Shane Casey and many more.

We are the young adult chapter of the Listowel Writers’ Week, Ireland’s oldest literary festival.

This year we are online and nationwide, and our theme for the festival is Hope.

“Hope must be almost kept alive in our hearts even though prevailing circumstances seem to suggest that such optimism is irrational.”

Brendan Kennelly 2016
